ช่วงนี้มีข่าวหมอเตือนเรื่องเห็บเป็นพาหะโรค SFTS (ไข้ร่วมกับเกล็ดเลือดต่ำ) และมีรายงานผู้ป่วยในไทยแล้ว 53 ราย ตัวเลขนี้อ่านให้ถูกคือ "ยอดรวมที่ตรวจพบและรายงาน" ไม่ใช่จำนวนคนที่ป่วยพร้อมกันในสัปดาห์เดียว และไม่ได้หมายความว่าเห็บทุกตัวมีเชื้อ
สรุปให้เข้าใจง่าย: ไม่ต้องตื่นตระหนก แต่ก็ไม่ควรมองว่าเห็บเป็นเรื่องเล็กอีกต่อไป เพราะสิ่งที่เราเจอในคลินิกบ่อยกว่านั้นมาก คือโรคจากเห็บในตัวน้องหมาเอง เช่นพยาธิในเม็ดเลือด ที่ทำให้ซึม ไม่กินอาหาร เหงือกซีด และเกล็ดเลือดต่ำ ป้องกันเห็บได้ ก็ตัดความเสี่ยงทั้งของน้อง ๆ และของคนในบ้านไปพร้อมกัน
## ทางที่ 1: ติดกลับบ้านมากับ "คน"
เห็บตัวอ่อนเกาะขากางเกง ขอบถุงเท้า พื้นรองเท้า หรือกระเป๋าที่วางกับพื้นได้สบาย ๆ คุณเดินผ่านพงหญ้าข้างซอย ไปตลาด ไปวัด ไปบ้านญาติที่เลี้ยงสุนัข แล้วพามันกลับบ้านโดยไม่รู้ตัว น้องหมาที่ไม่ได้ออกจากบ้านเลยก็เจอเห็บได้ด้วยเหตุนี้
วิธีปิดช่อง: ถอดรองเท้าไว้นอกบ้าน เปลี่ยนเสื้อผ้าก่อนไปกอดน้อง ๆ และถ้าไปที่รกหญ้าสูง ให้ปัดขากางเกงก่อนเข้าบ้าน
## ทางที่ 2: มาจากน้อง ๆ ตัวอื่นที่บังเอิญเจอกัน
เห็บย้ายตัวได้ตอนที่สัตว์สองตัวอยู่ใกล้กันแค่ไม่กี่นาที เดินสวนกับหมาเพื่อนบ้าน ดมทักทายกันตรงปากซอย สัตว์จรที่เข้ามากินน้ำหน้าบ้าน แมวเหมียวที่แวะขึ้นรั้ว ไปจนถึงร้านฝากเลี้ยงและสนามให้วิ่งเล่น ทั้งหมดเป็นจุดส่งต่อได้
วิธีปิดช่อง: ใช้ยาป้องกันเห็บหมัดต่อเนื่องตามรอบ ไม่เว้นช่วง (จุดพลาดที่พบบ่อยคือหยดเดือนแรกแล้วลืมเดือนที่สอง) และคลำตัวน้องหลังกลับจากเดินเล่นทุกครั้ง เน้นซอกหู ใต้คาง คอ ขาหนีบ ซอกนิ้ว
## ทางที่ 3: มาจากในบ้านเอง — รังเห็บที่เรามองไม่เห็น
ข้อนี้คือสาเหตุที่ "กำจัดแล้วก็กลับมาอีก" เห็บตัวเมียที่อิ่มเลือดจะทิ้งตัวลงพื้นไปวางไข่เป็นพันฟองในรอยแตกผนัง ซอกกระเบื้อง ใต้เบาะโซฟา ตะเข็บที่นอนสัตว์เลี้ยง ซอกกรง หรือบนพรม แล้วค่อย ๆ ฟักออกมาเป็นรุ่นใหม่ ถ้าจัดการแต่ตัวบนตัวน้อง แต่ไม่จัดการสิ่งแวดล้อม ปัญหาก็จะวนอยู่แบบนี้
วิธีปิดช่อง: ซักที่นอนด้วยน้ำร้อน ดูดฝุ่นซอกมุมแล้วทิ้งถุงทันที ยกเบาะตรวจตะเข็บ อุดรอยแตกผนัง และถ้าเจอเห็บกระจายทั้งบ้าน ควรจัดการสิ่งแวดล้อมควบคู่กับการป้องกันบนตัวสัตว์เลี้ยง
## ปิดให้ครบทั้ง 4 ทาง แล้วเรื่องนี้จะจบเร็วขึ้นมาก

# Ticks Don't Only Come From the Grass — 3 Ways They Get Into Your Home Unnoticed
Most pet owners believe ticks only come from grass. In reality, there are three other routes into your home that almost nobody guards against. Plenty of families around Rangsit, Khlong 5 and Thanyaburi have stopped walking their dogs on grass altogether, and still find a tick on the back of their dog's neck. That's not poor care — it just means some doors are still open.
## What the "53 cases" news actually means
Recent news reports have warned about ticks carrying SFTS (severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome), with 53 reported human cases in Thailand. Read that number correctly: it is a cumulative total of detected and reported cases, not people falling ill all in one week — and it does not mean every tick carries the virus.
The practical takeaway: no need to panic, but ticks are no longer a minor nuisance. What we see far more often in clinic are tick-borne blood parasites in dogs, causing lethargy, loss of appetite, pale gums and low platelets. Preventing ticks protects your pet and your household at the same time.
## Route 1: Ticks hitch a ride on people
Immature ticks cling happily to trouser cuffs, sock edges, shoe soles and bags set down on the ground. You walk past overgrown grass down the soi, visit a relative who keeps dogs, and carry ticks home without knowing. This is exactly how an indoor-only dog ends up with ticks.
How to close it: leave shoes outside, change clothes before cuddling your pet, and brush off your trouser legs after walking through long grass.
## Route 2: Ticks transfer from other animals
A tick only needs a couple of minutes of close contact to switch hosts — a nose-to-nose greeting with the neighbour's dog, a street cat drinking water by your gate, a boarding facility, a dog park. All of them are handover points.
How to close it: use tick prevention continuously, on schedule, with no gaps (the most common slip is applying month one and forgetting month two). Run your hands over your pet after every walk, checking behind the ears, under the chin, the neck, groin and between the toes.
## Route 3: The tick nest already inside your house
This is why ticks "keep coming back". An engorged female drops off and lays thousands of eggs in wall cracks, tile gaps, under sofa cushions, along the seams of pet bedding, in cage corners and in carpet — then a new generation hatches out. Treating only the ticks on your pet, without treating the environment, keeps the cycle going.
How to close it: wash bedding in hot water, vacuum corners and bin the bag immediately, lift cushions and check the seams, seal wall cracks, and if ticks are spread through the house, treat the environment alongside your pet.
## Close all four doors and this ends much faster
Grass + people + other animals + your own home. Shut all four and the problem genuinely shortens. If your dog is lethargic, off their food, feverish, has pale gums, or you've just found a heavy tick load, don't wait it out — a simple blood test tells us quickly whether a tick-borne disease is hiding underneath.
